Arizona Senate Contempt Vote on Election Audit Could Lead to Maricopa County Arrests

In December, AZ Senate Republican’s issued two subpoenas to the Maricopa board of supervisors that demanded images of every mail-in ballot, access to voting machines and software, and voter information. The Board of Supervisors failed to meet their deadline and instead filed a lawsuit arguing that the election was “safe and secure.”

The AZ Republican controlled senate has threatened to hold the supervisors in contempt for not responding to subpoenas. The Senate wants to perform its own audit.

State Senator Karen Fann has introduced a contempt resolution and every Republican in the Senate signed on as a co-sponsor, they also all a voted to fast-track the resolution for a vote as early as Monday.
